Circular Economy Value Chain Innovations

Wednesday 25 September 2024 | 09:00-10:30 | Briefing Room UK | Workshop | Hybrid

Circular economy innovation focussed on the creation of new participative value chains in industrial and urban environments.

The projects presented in the workshop operate within the realm of Sustainability and Circular Economy. Across all these projects, a critical aspect involves the active participation of diverse stakeholders who collaborate to enhance and enable sustainable value chains.

Each project addresses sustainability and circularity across various domains and pilot initiatives. Central to their success is the engagement of a stakeholders’ circle. To effectively foster stakeholder involvement, these projects employ different techniques and methodologies to:

  1. Activate Knowledge Transfer: The projects focus on sharing competences, raising awareness, and developing essential skills among stakeholders.
  2. Facilitate Information Exchange: Stakeholders openly share needs, challenges, solutions, and innovative ideas.

The stakeholder circle plays a pivotal role in enabling the following processes, which are crucial for fostering innovation and promoting open science:

  1. Material and Technology Sharing: The projects encourage the exchange of materials, technologies, processes, end-of-life products, and recycled materials—anything that can benefit others.
  2. Strategic Matchmaking: Stakeholders are connected to close the loop and find suitable partners for collaboration.

Additionally, the workshop will conclude by discussing practices such as living labs and communities of practice. These approaches enable the delivery of innovation to end-users, widening the boundaries of research and advocating for open science.
