Social and Technical Aspects of the Hydrogen Revolution
Wednesday 25 September 2024 | 11:00-12:30 | Workshop | ONLINE
The hydrogen revolution: social and technical aspects for a sustainable transition to the hydrogen technologies
The transition to a hydrogen economy will involve policy- and decision-makers, technology providers, adopters, users, and, last but not least, citizens. Understanding how the latter perceives hydrogen, and the needs of technology providers and decision-makers, is fundamental to ensure a successful implementation of solutions in terms of policy, technical development, and social awareness.
Project HYPOP, HYdrogen Public Opinion and acceptance (GA n. 101111933, https://www.hypop-project.eu/), will support the hydrogen deployment in Europe, enhancing the involvement of citizens and providing guidelines to increase trust in hydrogen implementation. A clean and clear communication will be key for hydrogen technological development with social acceptance. Besides the hydrogen awareness increase among the population, it is fundamental to support decision-makers and professionals in every step of the technology deployment, from the technical to the communication aspects towards final users.
The event “The hydrogen revolution: social and technical aspects for a sustainable transition to the hydrogen technologies” is organised to involve different stakeholders of the hydrogen value chain (decision makers, permitting authorities, certification bodies) into a co-creation workshop. The aim of the workshop is to inform and present main HYPOP’s results on both social hotspots for decision-making and technical requirements for the hydrogen technologies installation, starting from current prototypes to future technologies. The workshop will cover mobility and residential technologies mainly, focusing on relevant social indicators that might affect the final users’ opinion, hydrogen awareness, and trust.
The workshop will be held online and will last 1 hour and a half. The agenda will cover a general hydrogen introduction and HYPOP Project presentation, followed by main project’s achievements on hydrogen social impacts, hydrogen acceptance indicators, and technologies’ installation requirements. In the second part of the meeting, an interactive discussion will be held and guided by a moderator. Stakeholders will be invited to interact with the HYPOP partners and external experts (e.g., public authorities and safety experts) to understand gaps and share best practices. Tools such as Mentimeter or Slido will be used as support to the engagement process.
